KATHMANDU: Tourism entrepreneurs have urged the government to declare Pokhara, the lake city in the western region, as a tourism capital of Nepal.
In an interaction entitled Tourist Capital Pokhara organized by Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), they also urged the government to declare Pokhara as a special tourism zone. The interaction was organized in association with the Western Region Hotel Association, Pokhara.
Gandaki Province Chief Minister, Finance Minister, lawmakers, Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor and Tourism entrepreneurs were present at the interaction that urged the government to declare Pokhara a tourism capital of Nepal and a special tourism zone.
HAN President Amar Man Shakya stressed on the development of sustainable tourism to make Gandaki a prosperous province. He also raised the issue of investment friendly and tourism friendly environment to flourish the tourism in that province.
HAN former President and Coordinator of Gandaki Province Prasiddha Bahadur Pandey presented the concept paper on Pokhara as a tourism capital of Nepal and focused on the MICE tourism in Pokhara.
Likewise, Gandaki Province Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the concept of tourism capital was a good idea and his government is busy in forging new policies including relating to tourism. He also stressed on the need of infrastructures and connectivity development including roads and airports for easy access to the tourists who wish to visit to Gandaki Province.
