The Nepal-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industries held its 13th Annual General Meeting today. Honorable State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mr. Dhan Bahadur Budha inaugurated the general meeting at Heritage Garden, Sanepa, Lalitpur. The State Minister distributed certificates to the elected executive office bearers and members of the Chamber. At the function, the State Minister appreciated the strong bilateral relations between Nepal and Sri Lanka and particularly mentioned about the help extended by the Sri Lankan Government after the earthquakes in 2015.

The assembly took an opportunity to bid farewell to the outgoing envoy of Sri Lanka to Nepal, Her Excellency Sworn Parera. The envoy is returning home after completing a tenure of three years in Nepal. During her tenure, the envoy had widely engaged with the Nepalese business community for the promotion of bilateral tourism, trade, industry and commerce. During the program, speakers expressed appreciation of various initiatives and accomplishments made during the tenure of Her Excellency Ms. Parera.

In the program, Honorable State Minister, HE Ambassador, Mayor of Lalitpur Municipality (Mr. Chiribabu Maharjan), President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (Mr. Rajesh Kaji Shrestha), and President of Nepal Sri Lanka Chamber (Mr. Ramesh Maharjan) spoke about the works and achievements during the tenure of Her Excellency and also underscored the needs and possibilities of widening multi-faceted development of bilateral relations between the two countries. Vice President of the bi-lateral Chamber, Mr. Vijay Shrestha delivered a vote of thanks.
