KATHMANDU: Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) has urged the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to strictly implement the provision of taking porter and guide while trekking.
TAAN members including officials from the Nepal Tourism Board and Department of Tourism met Tourism Secretary Krishna Prasad Devkota and requested him to properly implement the Trekkers’ Information Management Systems (TIMS).
TAAN President Nava Raj Dahal emphasized on importance of TIMS to ensure safety and security of trekkers and to control illegal trekking operation.
As TIMS is being implemented in only particular area of Annapurna Region, he expressed that TIMS need to be implemented effectively in every trekking region. “Trekkers will be safer and secure and less accidents can occur while trekking with porter and guide.”
NTB Board Members Deepak Mahat and Krishna Aryal said that distributing TIMS for free independent trekkers should be ended and porter guide must be taken by trekkers mandatorily.
