KATHMANDU: Tourism Minister Yogesh Bhattarai has said that the government has invited tourism ministers of 40 countries to observe the launch of Visit Nepal 2020 on January 1. The campaign, third of its kind in last two decades, aims to bring 2 million foreign tourists.
Bhattarai said ideas of tourism promotion would be exchanged among the ministers from different countries.
Various renowned personalities, including political icons from across the world, have been invited to make the campaign successful, he said. Special programmes will be organized in all seven provinces, diplomatic missions and in Kathmandu on January 1 to ensure participation of political parties, tourism entrepreneurs and employees.
Speaking at Reporters’ Club, he said that the government has set a target to begin the operation of the Gautam Buddha International Airport by March as 90 percent works of the airport has been completed.
Minister Bhattarai informed that works were underway to complete the construction of Pokhara international airport by mid 2021, and the government had set a target to construct Nijgadh airport within five years.
