The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and the Tanzania professional soccer player Mbwana Ally Samatta have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) following the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism Dr. Hamis Kigwangalla announcing Samatta as a Tanzania Tourism goodwill ambassador before the Parliament while winding up his budget speech in Dodoma in May this year.
Samatta who plays for Belgium side KRC Genk and Captain for the Tanzania national football team signed an MoU with TTB recently at its headquarter offices in Dar es salaam to officially start serving his new role.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Ms Devota Mdachi said that TTB is very optimistic that Samatta will greatly compliment TTB efforts in promoting Tanzania tourist attractions worldwide given his popularity both within Tanzania and abroad.
She further said that among other things TTB will be organizing Farm trips for Samatta to visit various tourism sites in Tanzania including national parks so as to learn more about the tourism attractions Tanzania is endowed with. This will equip the goodwill ambassador with a lot of relevant knowledge that will help him in executing his role.
On his part, Mbwana Samata noted that as a Tanzanian, he is ready to assume his new ambassadorial role in patriotic manner. “It is a great honour for me to be appointed in this important role. I am dedicated toward promoting Tanzania’s tourist attractions whenever I go” said Samatta.
The 26 year old player added that he has already started promoting Tanzania as a tourism destination as well as persuading fellow players and other people from Belgium to visit Tanzania’s tourist attractions
